Happy Fourth Of July to all the American watchers out there as well as Danish Jutlander watchers!

Anyway...

Hello all the members and watchers of this group!

Today, I come with news of a new contest for this club!

The title of this contest title is "Vocaloids Across The World"
-Pick a Official Vocaloid (Or popular UTAU) and draw them in the traditional clothing of your country (or region of a country) or even your country of heritage.
You could even draw them in the outfit of a popular celebrity/important person in your country's history or dressed as something rather unique to your country. It doesn't have to be found solely there, though. Be creative! This will show how far Vocaloids have reached across the world!

It starts today (July 4th) and ends on Friday, August 8th at 11:59 US Central Time!

To enter and be eligible to win:

-(AS OF TODAY THIS RULE ISN'T A REQUIREMENT) you must be a member or watcher of this group at least. (so you can get updates)
-(THIS ISN'T A REQUIREMENT ANYMORE!!) you must have submitted it to DA today or after today and before the deadline
-you must submit it to the designated folder if you want to enter it, if not put it in the regular folder it belongs in
-no graphic/mature content or anything against the rules
-Up to 3 entries each per person. Each will be voted on separately
-For people with many different heritages, you may draw as many characters as you want in it, you aren't restricted to one character. It will be graded on how well it is and not how many characters you do though.

There will be a voting week after the deadline of the contest has been reached. Every member of this club can take part in the voting in the comments when I post the link to all the entries in a journal, telling how much points they can give each. The voting will most likely be based off of Eurovision-styled voting. The judging panel would be 50% of the vote, the other 50% will be the comment voting. The artists can't vote for their own, though.
I'll post about the judging panel in about a week or so on this journal, so check back.

I'll take one or two trustworthy volunteers to add to the judging panel that I already have in mind. Just say in the comments if you want to help vote and I'll choose whoever sounds the best. You can only be a judge if you don't want to submit to the contest.

Prizes:

1st prize: A journal with several big thumbnail artworks of theirs (other than their entry) in it and a paragraph or more written by them when they win, telling a little about themselves and their art. I'll try to put their artwork on the front page as well. Also, you'll get contributor status and be able to get automatic entry to the featured art folder for the remainder of your time in this group. They can also state how much commissions from them are or if they take any requests.

2nd prize: two artworks of their choice (other than their entry) shown in a journal, one big thumbnail one small thumbnail, and several sentences about themselves. They can state how much their commissions are as well or if they take requests.

3rd prize: 2 small thumbnails of their artwork (other than their entry) and a sentence or two about themselves. They can state how much their commissions are as well as if they take requests.

4th prize: one small thumbnail of an artwork of theirs (other than their entry) in a small thumbnail. They can state how much their commissions are or if they take requests.

5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th will get honorable mentions (just their username) as well as a picture of their entry.

I'm sorry I couldn't add DA points to the prizes, I don't have enough to be able to.

I'll be looking forward to submissions.
Ask any questions in the comments.

If you are planning on entering, it would be nice if you said so in the comments, you don't have to, I just want to see how many entries to expect.

Vocaloid OCs are the characters people create for themselves. Fanmade Vocaloids are the derivative characters they make like Kaiko and Mikuo and Sakine Meiko. They are based off of official vocaloids.

'Traced, referenced, eyeballed (copied by looking) and generally stolen work. All work should be 100% yours'

I'm curious on that one rule part, sometimes when I draw I have to look at pics for pose ref, that isn't eyeballed is it? *sucks at doing poses so needs help sometimes OTL*

I believe it means that if you sit there and copy it exactly by eye, it isn't exactly yours, even if you actually draw it. If you reference other drawings enough for it to be recognizable to another, it isn't allowed, but if it's just a LITTLE bit, it is allowed. Posing reference in particular are pretty much the farthest we'll consider allowing but the whole pose shouldn't be copied and you should go out of your way to make it different from the original.
